Real Group’s latest venture: Discover the Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE)
We are pleased to announce our latest venture, the publication of a new assessment test for use in exam access arrangements.
Written and developed by Anna Smith, Louise van der Valk and Sophia Butler, the Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE) offers educators the ability to assess a group of learners simultaneously on their speed of retrieving simple information from memory.
This launch marks an exciting new chapter for Real Group. Building upon 20 years of experience providing services to the educational sector and deep expertise in educational psychology, publishing an assessment test represents a natural and progressive step forward.
A key advantage of the TORE is its ability to be administered to small groups of children and young people, making it a highly practical and time-saving tool for classroom settings. This contrasts with traditional analogue tests, particularly rapid naming tasks, which typically require individual administration.
Sophia Butler, one of the authors, commented: “Anna Smith, Louise van der Valk and I are delighted to partner with Real Group on the publication of the TORE as we have all worked with the award winning group as tutors/consultants. Knowing its firm foundations in ethics and testing, it is the perfect company to launch our test. The TORE is a quick, easy and relatively inexpensive test to run as a group or individually and measures retrieval efficiency. The TORE has been developed in England and so is perfect for Form 8 extra time evidence and diagnostic test use carried out in the UK.”
The new TORE has been standardised on a normative sample of 916 participants in the UK aged 13-19.
The all-new Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE) is available now, exclusively from the Dyslexia Action Shop.
Don’t forget: Current Real Training and Dyslexia Action delegates, and members of The Dyslexia Guild, are eligible for a 10% discount on most products in the shop. This includes purchases of TORE. Find out more about the TORE.
